Dad bought this shop in Highland Road, Southsea, after moving from Aldershot. We lived here 1947-1953.

Dad bought this shop in Lake Road, Portsmouth. We lived here 1953-1967.

Dad's paint job certainly made the shop stand out. Note the adjacent shops are now empty in preparation for the "sack" of the Lake Road area in the early 1970s. We stuck it out to the last!

HM Dockyard Portsmouth. No. 2 Shipfitting Shop in the background. This is where I did my shipfitting apprenticeship 1963-1967.

Jim, the choirboy, All Saints Church, Portsmouth. I was a choirboy from 1957 until 1963.

Dad was a Church Army Captain in the late 1920s. He is seen here with "down and outs" chopping wood. These men would be gathered from the London Embankment area and given breakfast by the Church Army after having chopped wood.
